4x4 Trails & Training
| Johann Sippel does 4x4 training at his farm Alkmaar, it lies about 16 km west of Nelspruit, the capital town of Mpumalanga. There is a training facility with a obstacle course which consist of natural obstacles, up and down hills which will test any driver and his/her vehicle. |

After a basic training on this obstacle course everybody gets the change to try out there newly learned techniques on this 7 km route. After completion of this course everyone will get his/her certificate

The courses are for all 4x4 drivers, with or without any experience and also on all type of vehicles, the course is designed in such a why that the driver will get maximum advantage and service life out of his/her vehicle. |

Game
Viewing Alkmaar is close to the Kruger National Park. The Kruger
sustains 
147 species of mammal, 112 species of reptile (including 50 of
snake), 34 of amphibian, 49 of fish (including the 'living fossil' lungfish
and an ocean-living shark found in one of the rivers) and nearly 230 species
of butterfly. For the bird-watcher, the park has special appeal: more than
530 avian species have been identified, among them ostrich, African fish
eagle, vulture, bateleur, secretary bird, owl, hawk, francolin, hornbill and
korhaan. The birds of prey are especially impressive.
Bird Watching Alkmaar Farmstay is a birdwatcher's paradise with nesting white fronted bee-eaters (arms-length from the beakfast nook), resident paradise flycatchers, purple crested loerie's fish eagles, kingfishers and long crested eagles being seen regularly.

Other Activities Lowveld Botical Gardens -- one of the finest and most interesting botanic gardens in South Africa, set in beautiful surroundings on the Crocodile River near Nelpruit. The gardens feature a number of unique botanical collections from a Cycad garden to a tropical forest containing a comprehensive variety of fig trees.
Visit the Sudwala Caves - one of the major tourist attractions in the Crocodile River Valley and only 15 km from the farm. The road between Blyde River Canyon and Pilgrim's Rest is particularly scenic and overlooks the Blyde River. Pilgrim's Rest is rich in history with an array of fascinating old style shops to explore. Kruger National Park. Near the entrance bridge of Sabie are the Bridal, Lone Creek and Horseshoe Falls.
